Hey,

I'm using Stereo Tool last version with Winamp (last version) for 2-3 months now and, it's cool but I have some questions about this plugin.

- With Winamp and my 2.1 Logitech X-230 (integradted chipset Realtek ALC888 HD Audio), does this plugin is good, just for listening high quality .mp3 and .flac music, or this is useless ? Cause yeah, I can hear the difference when the preamp' is ON and OFF, and I just use Setero Too for listening music on my Winamp.

- Wich preset am I supposed to set for the best sound rendering with my devices ? I'm using the FM Transmitter Soft Europe.

- Does Stereo Tool can affect my CPU by using it too much ? I mean it takes 20-35% of my CPU usage (Intel Core 2 Duo E8400@3.2Ghz), I have to set the quality to "Medium" or "High" ?

Thanks.

Welcome Jaxwins,

Which preset you use is a matter of taste. For normal use I would suggest using one of the 'generic' presets, as they were created for listening to music, without aiming at high loudness levels.

I wouldn't use any of the FM presets if you're not using it for FM transmissions. One of the "features" of FM is that the high frequencies need to be boosted quite a lot, which means that a lot of effort is needed to get good quality highs out of it. Non-FM output doesn't need that, and will therefore use (slightly) less CPU power and sound better.

If you do like the sound of this preset, you can also just turn off all the FM processing (right-click on the FM panel in the main window to turn it on or off).

About quality Medium or High: If Medium sounds good enough for you, choose that. The difference can be heard mainly in the bass frequencies. If you don't hear the difference (or if you don't have speakers with good deep bass sounds), just choose Medium.

A new version is coming soon that will use less than half of the CPU processing power, and it will also offer a better sound quality.

Thanks for the answer.

So, I turned OFF the FM processing in the FM Soft Europe, and it's really cool. By the way, I can say, on my computer, and in my opinion, there is a HUGE difference between normal processing and when Stereo Tool is activated, the sound is like much better, deeper, louder, etc, it's just so great.

Can't wait for the new version, nice job bro', keep it up.

(Last question: What is this user preset in "FM RADIO STATIONS EUROPE (50 us) > FM EUROPE - USERS PRESETS > Bojcha's Balkans ? It sounds like the Soft Europe)

Bojcha's Balkan is a preset that Bojcha, a user who posts a lot in these forums, made. It may sound similar to FM Soft for certain kinds of music, but it does clearly have its own tweaks. Which is why I added it.

Bojcha created it for music from the Balkan, hence the name.
