DO NOT USE ESI JULIA VISTA and 7 drivers 32 or 64 !!

IF YOU HAVE windows vista or 7 32 or 64 DO NOT BUY ESI JULIA!

buggy drivers ,

it's not the operating system,

it's the julia drivers for vista and 7 32 or 64 .

Here's a workaround in case you cannot get Stereo Tool to start with this card at all (as I was having since I switched to Vista64):

- Open the Stereo Tool INI file (stereo_tool.ini, in the directory where program settings are stored, eg. C:\Users\<username>\stereo_tool.ini).
- Change the line
ASIO Enabled=0
to
ASIO Enabled=1

Now you start up immediately in ASIO mode.

Hi everyone.
I have the following version of (possibly) the same bug to report.

Running ST 8.0 (or ST 7.3, does not matter) on Win 7 64
ESI Juli@ input @ 192000 Hz
ESI Juli@ FM output
ASIO on (or off)

After running normally for 5-6 hours, ST continues to process BUT strong "interference" type sound appears, constant throughout the broadcast, with regular clicking and humming noise.
It continues until the system is restarted OR until you click the ASIO on (or OFF). I.e. toggling the ASIO fixes the problem.

Any idea how this can be fixed, short of changing the sound card?

Thanks!
Christo

Since upgrade to ST8.00
I have also problem

Running ST 8.0 (or ST 7.3, does not matter) on Win 7 64
ESI Juli@ input @ 192000 Hz
ESI Juli@ FM output

After some hours running, I have some clicking on the sound. Fortunately it's not too noticeable, but it's still a hassle. Ouput buffer don't seems to be full.

I'm guessing that the sound card is running empty. However, that should be handled automatically by the "Synchronize to output" setting under Input - unless you have turned that off manually.

When this happens, please check the buffer filling and compare it with the filling just after starting. If the buffer is running empty (or full), this is it.

Hi Hans,
Thanks for your answer.
Yes, if I look capture into sound forge, it's a blank of 3 ms
Sync output is set to Auto.
Should I set to ON (and not auto) ? I set to On to see If I hear difference. But Input and output are from the same sound card with Asio ON.

If you use ASIO then you dont need 'sync'. With ASIO Buffer should be always OK.
How much you set buffer fot asio ?

Hi Bojcha,
Indeed same problem with Sync Output in (Auto, Off, On)
In control panel of my ESI car, buffer size is set (by default) to 256 samples. I have try to set to 512 or 1024, but it can't with a popup "MM Multichannel is in service" even with all audio soft closed.
In fact the problem doesn't occurs after some hours but immediatly
I think my problem comes always from my cpu, because it seems better when I reduce "Quality (CPU Load)" to 85%. I need absolutly change this mother board/cpu. I have already said but it becomes urgent since ST 8.00

Then that's the problem. It's always good to have headroom on CPU usage.

How many cores does it have? You might have more luck with the latest beta series (8.01 BETA013 being the latest right now).
