Hello everyone,

I'm planning to buy a low power transmitter that would allow for MPX injection directly from ST. I have a tiny one built up from kit design. Works pretty well but the point is that it has no frequency synthesizer. It's fine when receiving with old, full-analog knob-controlled tuners... but is quite problematic with digital tuners that operate on rasters (50, 100 kHz).

Here are my basic requirements:
- frequency synthesizer 87.5-108 MHz, prefarably 50 kHz step (but 100 kHz would be fine too).
- rack mount case
- built-in power supply 230V, 50Hz
- MPX input without any filtering that would interfere with the MPX spectrum
- low power (1W min, or prefarably even lower, up to say... 10-50W max)
- tolerant for temperature and humidity variations if possible (will operate in various conditions)
- should be available in Europe (I'm from Poland)
- price up to 400 Euro, slightly higher if worth it (certainly NOT a "no-name" if possible), lower is always welcome
- warranty

If possible
- internal stereo generator with RDS, but with external MPX-in functionality.

This is not for professional operation (tests only), but compliance with existing international standards is mandatory.
I'm really looking for the best and reliable one I can get for the price.

I would be very grateful for any advice (especially based on user-experience).

Regards,
Slawomir

Make it two for BW - we use ST into a BW-TX50 and it sounds great!

Thank you for your suggestions! I really appreciate that!

I found a local dealer that has offered me the BW-TX5v2. He said that this device would be the best for my needs and indeed it looks like a decent one. BUT... is rather pricey... actually the dealer mentioned 1170 euro, which is beyond my budget :/

And just to mention, I don't need dspx mini and stereo encoder included. Ofcourse - if I could get it for the MUCH lower price, then why not.

What about these?

http://www.pcs-electronics.com/cybermax ... p-216.html

Their tech support said that Cybermax FM+ Model C (CyberMaxFM+ DSP/RDS) might work with external MPX, "but probably not without disturbance", as he put it (though it theoretically shuld work, based on the info from manual http://www.pcs-electronics.com/software ... mv4_en.pdf).

He suggested this one instead:
CyberMAXFM+ 15W v4 (MONO MPX) version (D/E). Looks like the one I would look for, but unfortunately I can't find any feedback on these devices.

Regards,
Slawomir

I would shop around ebay, etc and get a name brand well known box. pcs does not impress me, I inquired about their product and NEVER got a email response, and I understand someone paid for a box, sent it back for repair and never heard from them again. I would save my money and get the BW.. Progressive Concepts may have some of the non dsp=x boxes in 1 and 5 watt versions.

...or I will try to modify/ask someone to modify my current transmitter (modifications would include frequency synthesis and pure mpx input, which is possible)

It is on BA1404
