Is there a particular GPS receiver you recommend for uMPX to sync SFN signals? How should it be connected to the PC....serial, USB or some other way? Thanks!

Hi, we have made special boxes that you can use to put in between (it's a pretty complex thing to solder yourself). Just USB isn't enough because the jitter on USB is about 10 ms (0.01 second) and we need pulses with a precision of less a microsecond (0.000001 second).

The first of these boxes are now at several stations where they will be tested. Once we have confirmation that everything works as it should in the field we'll start selling them, and also start selling MicroMPX SFN licenses.

Thanks Hans! Looking forward to implementing this on our Las Vegas station.

So far everything seems to be working well. In a test in Finland, a small transmitter was placed in an area with bad reception and they noticed no interference at all (in fact, people were originally doubting whether the transmitter was really switched on).

I'll verify once more that everything is ok. Then we should be able to start selling these pretty soon. :)

Hi Hans

Just wondering if this testing went to plan and if you are any closer now to have the units available for purchasing?

Thanks!

The people who were going to test it were in locations that were hard hit by corona, which stalled everything. I hope to get some feedback soon, if not we might need to find other testers.

Hi Hans! If it turns out that you need other testers, we'd love to help test it here in Las Vegas. We already have ST running on SFN, but using another method for synchronization. It would be very easy and quick to get it online and report results. Thank you!

I would like to test a GPS receiver sending data on a serial port, however the data is seemingly sent at 4800 baud, not 9600 baud.
Is it possible to use non standard settings using the name field (custom input selected)?
The documentation doesn't seem to go into detail regarding this?
