Stereo Tool

Hi all

I picked up a cheap ($295nzd!) core 2 duo (CPU intel E6320) machine. The motherboard is an intel as well, it has a sigmatel STAC9220X5 audio chip on board

I read the specs on the idt website about it, it says it can do 192khz even though windows vista basic that came preinstalled says its max output is only 48khz (HD my a**), stereotools output sample rate says otherwise (192000) in the fm tx window.

Now has anyone tried these chips with ST and are they any good? I don't have any test gear and I can't find much on the net about them (BBP forums don't say alot either)

Just a small warning about the sample rate that Stereo Tool reports: I cannot detect whether the maximum sample rate is 96 kHz or 192 kHz - basically if the sound card only supports 96 kHz and I send 192 kHz to it, Windows converts it and I never notice it. And the sound card information API doesn't support higher bitrates than 96 kHz, so checking the capabilities of the sound card in Stereo Tool does not help.
