With the Juli@ cards getting harder to get, has anyone successfully tried one of these new low cost 192 kHz USB interfaces for Stereo Tool MPX output with RDS;

thanks.

Basicly any 192k Soundcard is good.
However i would avoid FireWire and USB cards for 24/7 use. Those cards sometimes knows to not detect after windows restart. However i don't have/use any, but probably that problem can be solved.

And maybe there could be an watchdog for that special thing if USB really is that tricky: if soundcard is not present after boot -> reboot again -> if not present after that -> report and reboot until soundcard is present :)

Just a dumb idea which could be made with some short line of script maybe :roll:

And wow, that sure is cheap, 66 euros from Thomann! I will sure order that one for testing.

Stereo Tool itself will restart if you enable that option. It won't reboot the pc though.

I'm using USB sound cards and know a couple of others who also do. None of us is having a problem with disconnecting USB interfaces upon reboot.

I also use a USB-based modulation monitor at the AM radio stations I maintain. Some of them have been in service for years with no connection issues.

Hello, i'm try using UMC202HD with stereotool for broadcast (stereo+RDS) and it works fine. Once you found the correct settings...

Actually I own the UMC202HD and while it performs ok with StereoTool, I would really recommend you try another and way cheaper solution with an ALC4042 DAC, to be found in several USB-3.5 mm adapters. You can get them for like € 10 to € 15 or so.
The one I got (https://www.onlinekabelshop.nl/nedis-us ... 0-15-meter) totally outperforms the UHD202HD in terms of S/N ratio and phase error. Looking on an analyzer, the UHD202HD shows some really ugly spurious signals and increased noise floor above 100 kHz, which you don't want to bother your FM transmission with, should your modulator allow so ...

I am using this sound card. At 192khz I couldn't figure out the latency.

this economic solution is very interesting, could you confirm if it also acts as a capture device (line/mic input)? I see that it has a 4 pole jack (mic input)

Although the ALC4042 chipset supports ADC as well, I guess this product is wired for output only. You may try to open up the plastic casing to see if the PCB provide access to the inputs as well. Datasheet including pin-out for the ALC4042 https://www.audiosciencereview.com/foru ... df.116323/
