I am trying to setup stereotool on a Pi.

Can anybody tell me what OS they have run on a Pi and been successful with?

Also for live audio processing, what did you end up using for sound card input?

This is my first shot playing with a Pi and Linux and I'm feeling pretty silly!

Thanks.
Dave

Hi Dave,

You need a Pi 2, it won't run on a Pi or Pi B. OS is Linux (I used Raspbian).

Thanks for the reply Hanz.

I have it running on my Pi2. Haven't passed any audio through it yet! As far as I understand, an add on card is needed to get a audio input. Any suggestions, or are there any usb sound devices that will work with Raspbarian?

Thanks again! Love the software!

I honestly haven't gone further yet than testing it with Jack. People are talking a lot about the Wolfson card (which can do 192 kHz, so it might be usable to generate stereo/RDS!).

It does. I use them at the transmitters. But as i only have the old pi, I take a flac stream at 192 khz inkl. Stereo and rds. Runs like a Charme.

That would be nice - a low cost way to keep within the 75 kHz limit and generate RDS (the Pi, the audio card and the basic FM license are about 200€). If you offered a lower cost license for Raspberry Pi only, the cost would be lower!

Great would be to have a RaspPI Release with Streaming Input, FM and RDS generation, TransmitterSync and FinalClipping.
IP to MPX Box. Processing could be made in the studio.

hello radio700,
what release, deamon or software you use for the flac reception (auto reconnect etc...?) at the transmitters on your raspberry?
and what software you use for the real time flac encoding at your studio side ?
How latency you have (more or less)
Thank you.

Encoding Site: Audio > Stereo Tool > FlacEncoder > Icecast
Decoding Site: Icecast > Mplayer > Wolfson AudioCard

Latency around 11 Seconds. Fine for me.

I wanted it in the first place to decode with Liquidsoap, but @ 192kHz the device was zu weak; i got dropouts.
Didn't find time to test with the PI2, yet.
