HDSDR + MpxTool + RDS SPY mod monitor in action

This is a Greek station and here no one is actually measuring fm deviation... They all do it by ear the result are 150% and crazy wide fm

And now Turkey... With proper modulation monitors and proper sound processing.....

Edit : yes here in Greece we leave in the dark ages of radio (no laws for modulation and frequency deviation)
Edit 2: you can clearly see the asymmetry in voice on the second picture ... (the - is always 75Khz and the + fluctuates)

Whoaa! Here in Poland it looks significantly better, that's for sure :) And I am really surprised about the situation in Greece - what about all the regulations? EBU? ITU? finally EU? ;) I mean - these signal can easily penetrate into other countries (especially when transmitter is close to the border).

Oh and by the way - how is it all working on Win 10 tech preview? I've had several glitches using Win 8.1.

We have regulations but no one is actually following them. It all works fine in windows 10. No problems at all.

What you see in the pics is the rule than the exception... Only some (one or maybe two) do care about modulation and fm deviation and they use proper fm processors and they have very good signals as well. All the others are playing music from a pc (stream) or a link of some kind .... And they complain that they have very poor reception. Go figure.

Here in Poland it looks more/less like this:

EDIT: I used indoor antenna and despite jumping all over the room, got quite crappy reception quality. I shall try using external one, but currently I have no place to mount it.

Yeah, but you're using modified tuner on this one, right? ;) Calibrated perfectly, by the way :) Is there a possibility that we will see finished Unvail preset anywhere soon? :> I kinda like this one (much) and even used old version of it for a live event recently, where I needed good sound levelling with as little artifacts as possible. Even though it was "just a party", everybody liked the sound. In the open air it sounded almost transparent and the stereo separation was just perfect. Even when I played it using about hundred watts (true wattage).

I don't forgot you guys. Fighting with de emphasis curves in gnu radio.... Gnu radio has a de-emph block but it is useless. So i am making my own FIR filter to de emphasize the L+R & L-R audio. When i am satisfied i will publish all the files so anyone can use it.

Thank you! that is very kind of you :) Meanwhile I ordered another USB dongle receiver - will give it a go and check if the results are similar to those obtained using the one I've got.
