I finally have changed my OS from Windows to Linux Mint 19.3 recently.

While Stereo Tool worked very well with Windows7 using the Winamp-plugin, there are problems to get things done with Linux.

Under Linux I now use the VLC Media Player by default.

I both have installed the Stereo-Tool standalone >ALSA< and >Jack< versions 9.62 for Linux on my system, as well as >QjackCtl< (as a registered user).

But when Stereo Tool is running, there's no input signal appearing (report: "we're not seeing any audio...").

All the attempts to get it up and running failed so far!

How can I connect the VLC-audio signal to Stereo Tool and listen to it using my headphones (soundcard output)?

Just some pointers:

Install the package "patchage" and "vlc-plugin-jack".
Then in VLC chose "hardware" as audio output.

Download the JACK-version of Stereotool

Start jack using qjackctl
Start patchage
Start VLC and Stereotool
Connect VLC to Stereotool using patchage.

If that works, you can begin to automate the launch.

Hi there!
Thanks a lot for your hints!
I now have installed the Linux packages you mentioned.
Unfortunately I can not see which "hardware" I should choose in VLC player as audio output.
Under "Audio/Output/Output Module" there are a lot of varieties appearing.
The same goes for the available number of devices (in the line below).
I've started the all the applications.
In >patchage< VLC is still not appearing.
Maybe it could help to deliver a screenshot to display the whole situation....?
Tank you!

I can't see how to attach a screenshort here.
But I've set my desktop to english, and this is what I do:

- start VLC
- go to Tools -> Preferences
- window should appear with "simple preferences" title
- go to audio
- select under "output module" "JACK audio output"
- Save

restart VLC.

Then - important - start playback, only then you will see the Jack client appear in the patchbay.
