I am looking for a way to take care of glitches that are heavily panned to either side of the stereo image, far beyond where the non-glitched audio is placed. Ideally, I would like to reduce the amplitude of such sounds, but if that is not possible, moving them towards the center would also be okay. What I don't want is to simply narrow the whole stereo image of all sounds.
Is there a way to accomplish this with Stereo Tool?
I've seen this challenge with 60's Motown recordings that are hard-panned left and right. I found some relief by setting the AGC to treat all incoming sound as mono - that is, it links the gain reduction for left and right the same, dependent upon the loudest sound in either channel. This keeps the stereo image more centered.
In the
Behavior group box, find the
Channel linking control. Set
Channel linking to zero.
