Most web pages I've found seem to say clipping and even hard limiting is bad for compressed data streams. On the other hand, the Advanced Clipper in Stereo Tool actually recommends the Advanced Clipper for internet stations wanting to sound loud. Is the Advanced Clipper bad for a 64 kbps AAC+ stereo stream? I've been running it very lightly, but prefer the sound (straight off the sound card) of the Advanced Clipper being driven moderately hard. Will the Advanced Clipper turn my data-reduced stream to fuzz? |

not necessarily but you will find the waveform wont be as strictly compliant as displayed in ST waveform view, when streaming at 64Kb AAC+.

EliteData, thanks for the reply! That's understandable, and no big deal. I appreciate the insight! |
