I'm using the free version to listen to an Amazon Echo Dot with processing added through a set of speakers.
However when I turn audio off on my Echo Dot, StereoTool starts making a quiet helicopter noise for some reason, sounds like a bassy helicopter. I assume it's one of the features in StereoTool playing nasty with my cheap USB sound card. It's weird because depending on what preset I choose, the speed of the helicopter noise changes. I think some presets make it go away altogether.

Does anyone know what could be causing this helicopter sound, and how to get rid of it?

I figured out how to fix it. Lowering and raising the lowpass and highpass can reduce or increase the strange sounds.

Some devices start giving a low rumble/noise when switched to standby, that might be what you're hearing.
