Hallo

Sound Card Error
Creating Asio Buffer Failed

Bij het menu ASIO zie ik wel Asio Device ID : Asio Trace alpha

wat kan dit zijn?

Can you try if it works with a other programs (with ASIO!).

It could be a sample rate issue, if something else is setting it to a different sample rate (that would be weird, unless you also still have some non-ASIO I/O's).

Hm, I don't think I have any other programs that run ASIO.

Now, I don't have the blue screen of death, but the Marian will quit on me after a time so then ST returns the error "sound card restarted after HANGUP"... but the sound card never restarts correctly without manual intervention...

By manual intervention, I mean I have to restart/reboot the computer to get it all to work together

That really points at a hardware or driver issue.

One thing that you could try: In Stereo Tool there's a "Marian Bug Fix" setting, under ASIO settings. I added this a few years ago as a workaround for a Marian bug that had a similar effect. Try a different value there. I haven't heard about this bug in several years but it might still be there (since my "Marian bug fix" has been enabled since that time).

I would guess (guess!) that a smaller value would cause more frequent problems.

Or could it be a more basic newbie mistake... I forgot to configure this relatively new computer to NOT go to sleep... I assume the sound card would not like that, even if ST is happy...

Well, so far, making sure the CPU doesn't go into sleep mode is helping a lot :-) Thanks Hans for one again being patient with me.

My next challenge will be to see if the Marian can indeed send both digital and analog outputs at the same time. If not I will go with the digital/MPX of course.
