Successfuly running ST for our FM station on a Windows PC up on the transmitter shelf (soon to be in a box at the top of a lift shaft), however we currently run the GUI version in a permanently logged in session, with the risk that one of the tech team will 'log out' instead of disconnecting their RDP session, and will thus kill ST and take us off air.

Has anyone tried (or succeeded) in running any version (GUI, command line, Windows/Linux) as a service or daemon, thus getting all the benefits of a managed process, and some protection from user error?

Cheers,
Phil (Felixstowe Radio).

Do you use RDP because audio?
If you don't need audio, and so monitoring over tuner, try to use VNC.

Fo sure there is Command line and linux version, but i am not familiar with it.

Hi Bojcha, no particular reason that we use RDP, other than it's available in the base Windows installation. The issue isn't the access mechanism, I'd just rather run ST as a service / daemon so it's monitored and restartable, and avoid the risk of someone closing the GUI session and stopping everything.
