The option to turn off (fade out?) the 19khz pilot with mono (voice?) source is an interesting idea too.
Think this is implemented in the O9? - It would be interesting to hear from those who have used this feature.
I really have doubts about this one. Reasons:
1. One of my radio's won't switch back to stereo if reception has been mono.
2. Another of my radio's has a delay in turning stereo back on.

I would not advice using a feature like this unless you have a station that broadcasts mono material at least 90% of the time...

Just a comment....I noticed that the Omnia 9 now has a Dry Voice Detection setting. Omnia 9 sprang from BBP and while I've never heard dry voice distortion on the 9, it was a substantial problem on BBP. ST is notoriously clean when airing dry voice. If there's a reason for speech detection in ST, it's not to clean up harsh dry voice.

Exactly there is the Problem in all existing processors with voice detection: it is always only a DRY-voice detection. Therefore voice with Background Music or even dry voice stored in a lossy data compression is detected as Music because the lossy compression algorithms mostly ad a little L-R difference Signal.
You are right, bob53bob, the reason for switching is not to clean up harsh dry voice, it is to drive the compressors a bit harder during voice.
In the Omnia 9 there is also another interesting Feature to improove the Music/voice- Balance. You can adjust a gate-delay for the Multiband section. This is the time from the beginning of the period with Level under the gate threshold and freezing the gain reductions. If you increase the gate delay the speech becomes louder cause in every pause the MB compressors raise ist gain a bit.
