Not sure if Stereotool currently does this, but using the systems GPU (if available) via OpenCL or some other library may help offload some intensive tasks/algorithms from the CPU

it's actually not that hard... at least not with AMD and opencl, I've managed to accelerate some operations like image transforms relatively easy... but still takes time.
