I prefer using the side chain to focus the AGC activity on mid-range portions of the spectrum. It works great - most of the time. Some songs may contain sections where there is very little mid-range content for an extended period of time. During those periods, the AGC will hunt for audio, exaggerating the not-mid-range content excessively. It would be cool if the AGC Side Chain could have a dynamic nature, extending the bandwidth during extended periods of no-mid-range content, to keep the AGC from exaggerating bass/treble. |
