I've seen the µMPX decoder can play a file when silence is detected. I'd like to have an option to execute a command when this happens instead. And even better, when signal comes back, execute another command.

Idea is to trigger some action on silence / signal return.

Yep, good idea. A small nuance: it's not silence detection, it's signal detection. So if you are streaming silence it will not kick in, only when the stream drops out completely.

That's ok, silence detector is at the studio. So a signal detector is exactly what's needed.

Since anyway ST is used, that should be IN ST (like i requested long time ago). Also to be available to someone who is not using uMPX.

Silence level detection (A), Wait Time to play backup file[s] (B), Wait time to return to main (C) with fade-in for niceness.

You can use input #2 in ST to fade to that input in case the first one falls silent. It can not play files though, but you could have something running on that second input that plays "something" all the time.

Yes i know. But two things. i need to have non-stop something on that input. And second, It does not turn off completely input1 when it is switched to input2

We've implemented this in a slightly different way. Directly executing commands from µMPX proved to be too much of a security issue, since then any command could more or less be invoked at will from the web interface, and be executed with the same rights as the running µMPX process.

Instead it can now write a file (e.g. "micrompx_receiving_no_stream.notify") to indicate its stream status. The appearance of the file can be monitored from a bash script or other program which can take action whenever the file appears.

In the future we also hope to add SNMP support for easier integration in professional environments but that's not there right now.

Great, thank you. That'll certainly do.

I know this is an old thread, but has there been any progress made on the SNMP side of things for the uMpx decoder/encoder? Or even the triggering of rPi GPIO pins on selected events.

Thanks
