When switching into SSB mode, it appears that the demodulated music level drops by about 1-2 db but does not happen on a steady tone. This is on the Extreme and Standard settings (the other two settings were not tried).

For "extreme" mode that makes sense (a bit less than 1dB drop), in standard mode it should be far less though (I measured about 0.1 dB a few days ago). Which preset/settings are you using?

Standard SSB with my Loud 'n Clear FM preset. The human ear can only hear changes of 1db or greater...that's what motivated me to look at the mod monitor as I heard the loss. Composite strictness at 12, Extra Comp Clipper Drive at +1db.
