We are experiencing an issue with large wav files. They are 10 hours long and with lossy MPEG1L2 compression they are 1.7gb in size.

So we use ffmpeg to decompress them and pipe them in to stereotool and then back into ffmpeg.
But stereotool just keeps piping out data until the disk is full. We have seen 60gb output files and even if we delete the output file, stereotool just keeps running using up all cpu resources.

It happens on both Windows and Linux, the problem is very easily reproduced.

Is this a known issue? Is this the 2gb limit that we cant get around even with piping?

Hi, are you sure that it's Stereo Tool that keeps generating data, and not the decoder? 2 GB is indeed a special case (the highest value that fits in a signed integer), but I've fixed that in Stereo Tool years ago... it could be broken again - but then, where does the data come from? When piping, it's waiting for input data - so if there is no input data it won't output anything. So I would suspect the MP3 decoder.
