If you're loading it again then you might be comparing presets instead of Stereo Tool versions. Try loading the preset in 7.51, then switch to 7.60 without changing anything.

I hate to buck the trend here, but after running version 7.60 for a while, I'm just not satisfied with the sound and am going back to version 7.51. I'm using the dsp version. I went back and forth between versions a couple of times, resetting all settings, then loading the preset. 7.60 just doesn't have the natural sounding presence of 7.51. It's like things are under a slight veil or haze with version 7.60. I know hearing is subjective, but these are my heartfelt impressions with the newer version. :ugeek:
Thanks, I've received your settings file and I've just tested them. And found a bug in version 7.60.

There is one big difference in the sound between version 7.51 and 7.60, and that's caused by the Phase Delay filter. The settings that were made in version 7.51 are misinterpreted in version 7.60 which may cause all kinds of weird effects - basically the wrong settings are telling the processor to move some sounds backwards in time, which isn't possible! So, this is a bug.

If you turn this filter OFF the sound is very similar. Can you check if that fixes the difference that you're hearing? If in version 7.51 you prefer the sound with this filter enabled, then the settings can be converted to version 7.60 but it will have to be done manually...

Hi Hans,

Thanks for the advice. I retried version 7.60 with the phase delay filter disabled and the sound just didn't do it to me. So, I went back to version 7.51. In 7.51, the difference between phase delay being switched in or out, is very subtle. It seems to give a little more presence or warmth to the sound when enabled. But it's enough where you want to reach over to the volume and turn it up because of the pleasing sound it reveals.

If there's a way to manually re-create this setting in version 7.60, please let me know.

There should be, by manually drawing the same shape that was present in 7.51 (the white line). I'm not 100% sure if the effect will be exactly the same because there were multiple bugs in this filter in version 7.51, but it must definitely be possible to generate the same effect in 7.60. Please look at the difference in scaling between the versions! (Old 10 ms, new 60)

Are PNR captures kept across restarts of StereoTool? I'd like to use it as part of my voicetracking. My automation system supports a plugin when voicetracking, and I'm using StereoTool is lieu of an outboard mic pre. Since the voicetracker closes and reopens the plugin for each track, it isn't possible to capture the noise each time. I'd like to set it once and be done.

This is the Winamp plugin. Does it persist PNR?
