I haven't had time anymore to update the presets and I wanted to release this new version before the NAB so - here's version 6.30!

http://www.stereotool.com/download/

Major code cleanup and restructuring
Added BS412 limiter
Added Stokkemask clipper
Improved scope display (triggered)
Improved low latency (6 ms) monitoring output in Stand Alone version
Improved overall quality by changing the processing window shape for ALL filters
Added support for cheaper limited Winamp/DSP declipper license
Reduced CPU load when playing pure silence
AGC: Improved handling of sudden loud bursts
Loudness: Improved protection of mids against loud highs, which were causing drops ("holes") in the sound.
Loudness: Changed the bass protection shape
Loudness: Added protection against distortion caused by asymmetric bass sounds
Loudness: Slightly better protection of frequencies below 700 Hz against very loud bass
Loudness: Bass protection and de-esser levels were calculated incorrectly if Final Clipper was enabled with a volume other than 1.00
Phase rotator: Improved behavior and display
Bass AGC: Now works on a much smaller frequency range so it only affects really deep bass sounds
Bug fix: Changed default values for the "Allow more distortion" sliders in the VST version
Bug fix for Omnia 9: RDS A/B flag works properly now, and if you change the RadioText and there was no sequence of texts there the new text will start to be broadcast immediately
Bug fix: Forcibly remove DC offset in Loudness did not always work properly
Slightly reduced Loudness CPU load, but the new highs protection adds a lot more if it's enabled

Hans,

You have done it again. ST 6.30 is a glowing tribute to your great work. I extend my thanks to you and everyone else that has helped deliver another great version of ST.

Thank you everyone.

Al

As a tribute to your excellent German engineering Hans, the first song with this new version is from Deutschland's Kraftwerk and the 1975 classic "Autobahn" (long 22 minute version). I'm in audio bliss . . . :ugeek: Many thanks!

Well, a big egg on my face. Sorry. Something led me to believe you were from northern Germany, Hans. I humbly apologize.

Anyway, back to the matter at hand. I upgraded to Stereo tool 6.30 (standalone) earlier today with high anticipation. Now after listening for several hours, I have decided to revert back to 6.21. It has nothing to do with being humiliated here.

The reason is that I noticed my ears getting very fatigued from listening. Something very grating in the upper midrange/lower high frequencies. Sort of akin to listening to some of the early cd's when they had a noticeable harsh digital effect in the sound.

I would like to hear other's opinions and wonder if the problems are due to my preset (which hasn't changed) or other factors.

Still gunna have to build a new PC for this new version. That's OK. It's been a long time coming. I have enough parts to build a quad core AMD or Intel laying around. I just gotta stop being lazy. :o
