My guess would be that this is some optimization/compiler bug. Otherwise everyone would see this.

What CPU do you have (exact type), which Windows version and which build of the software are you running?

O, and how did you make those GIFs? ;)

Oh, excuse me. I knew I forgot to mention something, that was it...

I tested the VST 64 bit version under Windows in Adobe Audition CC 2018.

I did it with the ScreenToGif tool. This is very useful and is also available as a portable version for download. This is free of charge and available under an open source license.

I'm having a similar problem to that Near05 reports, the AGC reduces volume, but it doesn't increase it properly when using the "new AGC mode", I kept playing with the settings and managed to fix it, increasing the Release time and reducing the Attack time a bit from the default settings, you can see how it looks here:

So I guess it's working but something got changed from the legacy mode.

I'm using the winamp plugin version in Windows 64-bits, if you need more information, I'll be glad to share, thank you!

Ok something appears to be wrong with "Max release speed" - if you set it to the maximum it works fine, any lower value blocks release completely. Will check why.

Max attack works fine though. By the way, you shouldn't really need Max Release Speed anymore because the release speed is no longer excessively fast on loud bursts.

Just to note, on "Low Level Boost," Max Release Speed's default setting is below maximum.

Thank you for this information. I tried it once, and it actually works. Exactly this setting had now been in the preset of weskeene. So that was the difference, and because it is not at maximum by default, nothing seems to have happened.

By the way, with the new beta, I also have crashes of Adobe Audition every now and then when I open StereoTool. This is rather irregular, but then the whole program crashes.

Ok max release speed appears to be inverted. If I lower the setting it allows more stuff to get through.....

Hans the max release speed starts to work when you turn it up nearly all the way. It seems to get stuck around the default point.

All the way up it bypasses a piece of the code (to lower the CPU load), so then it just completely ignores it.

Another question about the new mode of the AGC. Is the pre-AGC still needed for these? As I understood your description, the new symmetric detection should be able to cope with large level differences. So I am wondering, do you really need the pre-AGC? If so, do you have any suggestions on how to set it for symmetric mode?
