Hi Chris, can you tell me *exactly* what you did when this happened?

I was checking the bands by pressing and release the Monitor

Just saw that too. Turns out that there were a few settings that are only available in debug mode, and I was trying to set those in release mode. Fixed (next beta). I'll also put in your updated preset.

May have spoken too soon. Come back this morning and see a buffer overrun popup window. Humm...

Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?

Even though it's not listed anywhere I can find, you'll have to update your minimum computer specs. for the new versions from here on.

At home on my build computer, I'm running windows 7 using winamp with 4GB RAM & Intel i5 M43@2.27GHz CPU.

In version ST 8.40, my settings run 7 threads at average 26.4% time in processing & 13.5% time in GUI, with Winamp using average 73% CPU at 110% max frequency. 42% total physical RAM usage.

In version ST 8.41 beta 053, the same settings run a bit higher, but still, well within reason.
Turn on auto EQ, & it almost doubles the 7 threads to 40-55% time in processing & 32-50% time in GUI, with Winamp using average 89% CPU at 111% max frequency. 42% total physical RAM usage.

The new AGC also uses significantly more CPU than the old one.

If you want to add a few of the new settings together, it can quickly push the CPU to the limits.
My new settings that I want to use, push the 7 threads to 98% time in processing & tops out around 57% of time in GUI, running Winamp at average 96% CPU at 111% max frequency. 43% total physical RAM usage & the FM transmitter output audio becomes glitchy/breaks up.

This is all running the same piece of music through Winamp/Stereo Tool.

Looks like I'll have to invest in a new more powerful computer at home, to continue my builds on.

pthompson3 how far can I push our processor?

There are several things that I want to do to improve the performance again, but that will not yet be ready in the upcoming release.

The CPU load that you're describing seems higher than I would expect though. Will look up the CPU tomorrow...

InPhase, not too sure who you are, Im guessing. The BCL406 are equipped with a blast furnace CPU (i7 4Ghz). I truly cannot see you even coming close to using even 40% of the available processing power for ST with everything turned flatout.

There are ways to back off the CPU use gentle without too much of a impact. However, as more features in ST come into play, then unfortunately you do need several cores and importantly, plain old clock grunt to get around and perform the mathematics thats been requested by the application.

I don't see an M43 listed in https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php , is that really the exact model number?
