I just tried it again with a 30 Hz tone. And I set "Dirty Bass" to 100% and Controlled Distortion to the maximum. Bass clipper at -4 dB. Everything else at default settings (but Advanced Clipper and 'Limit instead' enabled).

When I increase the drive, the waveform becomes more flat, but the peak level does not move at all. So it behaves exactly as it should.

Except for the 64 bit VST (which is still building), the other binaries are updated to 8.41 BETA050 now.

Since 047, I'm having the odd buffer overrun... out to VAC on FM... No pattern.. random..
Still occuring on 050.
Just thought I should mention it...

Something has changed here too. When I reopen my laptop I get beeping and a message that my output rate is not supported. Restarting ST fixes it. Got this behavior on several betas while you where integrating Port audio, then it cleared up. Using VB cables @192K. Does it when ST is in bypass.

When I was integrating PortAudio is ages ago..... I haven't changed anything recently....... (Just checked: Haven't touched it since June!). Could it be a Windows update?

It's not a major issue for me. Could be a Windows update. If I isolate it, I'll let you know.

It absolutely could be a Windows update. One of my machines (not on air), recently got Creator's. It has destroyed the audio subsystem. Windows constantly deciding that my preferred communications device should be something other than what I set...etc. The new update is a disaster for audio.

Funny, exactly the same behavior there are also regularly here for Windows updates. Sometimes even the entire sound card is uninstalled. Mostly everything is fine after a reboot but that is very annoying.

Just further on this, I have discovered that the latest Win 10 update has indeed changed what I am assuming is a kernel resource, with VAC 414 running out of buffers when set to 50ms. Have increased to 100ms, but no avail. Looked at the driver and found version 4.14 running. Have upgraded to 4.15 and the issue is better, still some starvation of the buffer in stereo tool showing, but not as much. Initially is looks OK with 4.15.
