jack server is not running or cannot be started
Well it says that Jack isn't running. If you want to use it with ALSA, then get the non-Jack version instead. (Aaaand... I just realized that I don't have both versions available from the download page).

Edit: O. You already have the correct version. Not sure what that Jack error is doing there.... will check, something must be wrong. But that shouldn't stop it from working.
Did you select the correct inputs and outputs? Is the CPU load 0%?

You won't hear it on tones. Only on things will a full spectrum

The Input should be a VLC URL (hope that works under RPI Version, cause the HifiBerry Card has no input)... And the output is the Alsa Card. 0% CPU and no STereo Tool Process

No, VLC doesn't work on the Pi. So that probably explains it...

I see that sliders act weird when you drag them, and the presets menu can act up. But beside that it works normally. Are you using it from another pc? If so, make sure it's in the whitelist (use *.*.*.* or /0 to allow everything).

I was testing the web interface at work and there it didn't work. Now i'm testing at home and it's working ok. Will check later why it's not working at my work place.

Hi,

I just tried the 8.31 release on Ubuntu 16.04 and can't get it to launch. I have PulseAudio disabled upon startup and use Jack to directly control the sound card.

Using Jack allows:
1) VLC to feed StereoTool as an input
2) SilentJack to run as a watchdog in case the input audio goes silent (or something goes wrong)

When I launch StereoTool, I see this error and StereoTool just hangs and does not launch the GUI.
Code:
ALSA lib pcm_dsnoop.c:606:(snd_pcm_dsnoop_open) unable to open slave
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1029:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave

I'm not sure if the disabling of PulseAudio has anything to do with it. This version uses PortAudio, which can use either ALSA or Jack.

There is still a Jack-only version, I just noticed that I forgot to put them on the download page. They are there now.
