Hi all,
Wes Keene reported a very important bug: As it turns out, the RMS mode of the analog compressor was actually not RMS at all, but something in between RMS and average. This version brings it much closer to RMS. This does change the behavior quite a bit. Most importantly:
- Loud vocals are reduced less
- Other sounds are reduced more
- Big attack jumps are handled faster. Release might be slower.
In general I can say that this new compressor mode (I've named it RMS, old is now RMS (pre-8.36), you can find it under 'Sound') sounds more stable, more consistent and less "pumpy". Note: In the Digital mode this setting is identical to normal RMS mode.
Note: This is a pretty big change so I may have overlooked something. I think I've tested all the relevant compressor settings though.
