This is my first attempt at making a preset in years... And it's not really there yet, but getting closer. Anyway, I'm posting this preset here so that people who like this sound can tweak it to really match the sound that they want.

Reason: Facebook post about a pirate station with a sound where people stated that Stereo Tool cannot create this sound because it's not powerful enough. https://www.facebook.com/wouter.tietema ... nt_mention

Target: Very 'full' sound with a lot of very noticeable multiband and singleband compressor action - the opposite of what most preset makers try to achieve. These pirate stations want to hear the processor, all the time!

Why I post it here now? The Stereo Tool and Orban 8300 sound are pretty close to me at the moment, but I prefer the Stereo Tool sound - however others still indicate that they prefer the Orban sound. So.. Instead of trying to get closer to that (by doing things that I don't like), it's probably smarter to give them the intermediate result.

Some hints to people who are going to try to do something with this preset:
Multiband:
- To get more open highs, increase the Limiter levels slightly.
- To get more bass, increase bass Band Mix a bit. You might want to lower the bass limiters to compensate.
- For more open sound, you can also increase the 'Attack time multiplier' - this will keep more punch on all frequencies (alternatively, you can just tweak the attack times separately)
- For fuller sound, reduce the 'Release time multiplier' - again you can also adjust release times themselves.

Singleband:
- Best way to get some singleband action without too much annoying effects is probably to use the one after the AGC. But... You probably need to adjust the side chain to get a similar behavior to the 8300. (Flat might be good).

Clipper:
- I'm currently using some pre-emphasis on the clipping to smooth the highs a bit more (Orban highs sound a bit clipped so I did this to copy the behavior). Turn it off or lower the pre-emphasis value to reduce the effect.

Current comparison:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/vna0ph
First is Stereo Tool with this preset, 2nd is Orban 8300 with same processing. Song is BZN - The Summertime.

On my set in my office I do prefer the Orban sound now. It seems that on better quality equipment the clearer highs sound better, on less good equipment they sound somewhat 'heavy'. Anyway, I need to focus on other stuff now so... Will leave it to others :)

Actually they both sound very good.I think the enhancer(222) in the 8300 may be some of the difference.Gives the audio more depth and the 8300 is running more bass.

Yea I don't really like what the stereo enhancer in ST does to this track. Might be because the source is an MP3 though... Anyway, I'll create a new stereo widener soon (it's getting near the top of my todo list).

Nice, reminds me of an 8200-turned-all-the-way-up-to-eleven-preset I created months ago, but better :D

Anyway, listened to the comparison Hans uploaded. First impression: ST sounds overall better, but the O has more impact and smoother highs. Something that I really miss in ST - especially that slammy bass impact.
