I'm looking for a good emulated Optimod 8100 preset with that phat deep analog sounding bass. Somebody can make that? Thanks.

Hi freaky42,
I modified one of my presets to achieve the deep bass sound of the Orban 8100.
I would like to know your opinion about the preset, to know if you are looking into, but so leave your comments and I will correct it.
I think with some back and forth, we can achieve the sound you want. ;)

regards,

I haven't tested this on speakers yet (not enough time today) so it's not finished. Feedbacks are welcome.
If you need more highs, switch preemphasis to 50us, but don't turn it off completely since 8100 is a FM processor and preemphasis is part of the FM sound.

v1: this version is tuned against real and better-than-youtube-quality audio samples of the 8100. It will probably sound more reasonable than the old version.

Here are the samples I gathered from various websites: 8100samples.zip and 8100XT2.zip. 8100XT2.zip came from this website which no longer has the file. I can't remember where I got the rest.

edit: mediafire is being stupid and blocked all the samples. reupped to mega.

The latest version is better than the first one I must say. The first one sounds too phased and very bussy for my ears. The other one better, more low end and deeper bass. Are these two presed only based on a Optimod 8100 or also the XT unit? Because with or without this unit the Optimod sounds very different so I would also a comparison therewith if it's possible?

Sounds very clean, in comparison to the other 2 presets from vmp94.

Well, I made mine dirty on purpose (5000% dirty highs, no advanced bass protection) because the 8100 is dirtier than ST because it doesn't have the advanced psychoacoustic distortion shaping clipper that ST (and Breakaway too) has.

Since I didn't know what exactly you were looking for I made it to be sort of an average of all the different 8100 airchains I came across on the internet. The beta version was based on crappy youtube samples (because the high quality samples were on my other computer) and tuned only on headphones so it was more of a proof-of-concept than an accurate emulation. I don't know what preemphasis settings were used in the mp3 samples but I guess using 75us in ST would be appropriate because with 50us you have to push the highs unpleasantly hard to get the dirty sound.

Ok. On which Stereotool version are you (and the other posters) made this presets b.t.w? I forgot to say that I'm still using version 6.20. Maybe that's the reason it sounds a little bit strange.
Thanks.
