Hoi Hans,

Hi..
First off all, I'm Radu and I'm pleased to meet you all! I also use Stereo Tool 3.30
But I need a list with compatible soundcard for RDS Encoder. I need this to buy from my local store.

Thanks a lot

P.S: Sorry for my bad english. I'm from RO

Welcome Radu,

Basically you need a 192 kHz (output) capable sound card. Avoid anything from Creative (SoundBlaster, X-Fi), they don't work properly.

If you want to use the stand alone version of Stereo Tool (input to output), try to get a sound card that also supports a 192 kHz input sample rate. That will make things easier to use.

I have tested everything with an ESI Juli@ sound card, which works very well and has as additional advantage that the driver supports sending data from other applications to Stereo Tool (you can use a stand alone player and the stand alone Stereo Tool version, and use the ESI driver to send the data from the player to Stereo Tool.). You can also buy a program that does this: Virtual Audio Cable. But if you use an ESI card you don't need this. The cheaper ESI Maja44 card should also work, but it does not support 192 kHz input, so it does not work very well if you use the stand alone Stereo Tool version.

I have received reports that Stereo Tool also works with the Realtek ALC880 card. It should also work with cards that contain the VIA Envy24HT chip. (that is, if they support 192 khz - that doesn't always seem to be the case for some reason).

According to reports from others, the ESI Juli@ gives the best result. (That makes sense, the card is regarded very highly on hi-fi forums, because it gives very precise, unchanged playback. That's exactly what is needed for FM stereo/RDS playback.)

Note: If you are using Windows Vista, the ESI drivers are crappy at best. (On my system the input didn't work, and others have reported getting blue screens when using the ESI Juli@ on Vista).

You can also check this list. http://www.diffusionsoftware.com/soundcards.php

Hello
I have laptop with Realtek ALC883(only output and mic-in :( ) and drivers 5.10.0.5672[Realtek High Definition Audio Driver R2.00] WIN XP PRO SP2 and it's not work.
But on old drivers(5.10.00.2547)[Realtek High Definition Audio Driver R1.36] and on XP PRO SP2and3, RDS is working. It's only one problem, on old drivers sometimes channels L and R is invert (sorry my english is very bad) -R channel replace L, and L replace R... oppresive during FPS game...

huh
after some testing i get STEREO !! :D

so .. Realtek ALC1200 With Latest Drivers which are very latest.. i get stereo and after Transmitter Calibration i get ~99% channel separation :)
to confirm that all effects, EQ, etc MUST be OFF.
I try the other outputs at the same time .. but only on Main (green) output stereo working and in Audio CP output must be set to "2CH".

later i'll test RDS .. i don't have here a RDS capable Reciver now.

damn this sounds awesome !

EDIT:
RDS Works too. no probs at all.
Tryed ALC888, ALC889, ALC 1200 .. all working good.
One more thing .. i have a good hardware stereo coder unit. and i'll try replace and test with ST, but so far what i see.. ST will do better job.

edit2:
green output works.. but..
in Realtek Control Panel GREEN is Speaker Front Out, BLACK is Speaker Rear Output...
but.. GRAY.. is called Line-Out .. and that output is best to use on realtek HD Audio SoundCards. ;)
